Surprise

In “Surprise” Zhivko Mutafchiev constructs a scene in which the real and the symbolic coexist. The contrast between the saturated red fields and the expressive black and white forms creates a sense of tension and suddenness. The bird, frozen in flight, becomes a central accent – ​​a moment of appearance that changes the entire atmosphere of the work. With his characteristic free graphic gesture, the author leaves room for different readings, turning surprise not into an event, but into a state – a brief moment in which the everyday unexpectedly reveals a new meaning.
