Zhivko Mutafchiev is among the established names in contemporary Bulgarian fine arts, an artist with a clearly recognizable style, in which expressive color, free gesture and emotional depth become a distinctive author's signature. Working in the field of painting, graphics and drawing, he creates works that combine artistic sensitivity, philosophical suggestions and a strong personal presence.

 

Born in Aytos in 1967, Zhivko Mutafchiev graduated from the Art High School in Kazanlak, and later from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia with a degree in Graphics in the class of Prof. Stoyan Stoyanov. From the very beginning of his creative path, the artist has attracted attention with his expressive imagery and the ability to build impactful visual worlds in which reality and imagination exist in a delicate balance.

Over the years, he has held over 50 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands and the USA, and his works have been presented in prestigious galleries and international art forums. Among his landmark exhibitions are the cycles "Moments", "Romantic Visions of a Bon Vivant" and "To Myself", which have solidified his place among the most recognizable contemporary Bulgarian artists. Since 1993, he has been a member of the "Taylor" Foundation in Paris - one of the significant recognitions of his international presence.

His works are part of the collections of the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Museum of Modern Art in Fontainebleau, France, as well as numerous private collectors in Europe and the United States. Awarded many times for his achievements in painting and graphics, Zhivko Mutafchiev continues to impress connoisseurs and collectors with his artistic freedom, mastery of color and the ability to transform any subject into an emotional and aesthetic experience.
