"Ink Leaves a Trace": An Ex Libris Exhibition at the "Abris" Graphic Gallery

On October 23, 2026, at 6:30 PM, the "Abris" Graphic Gallery will open "Ink Leaves a Trace" - an exhibition dedicated to the *ex libris* (bookplate). The display features works by twelve artists, alongside pieces from the collection of Spas Halachev, and will remain on view until November 15.

The exhibition showcases works by Rumen Nechev, Petar Lazarov, Kirkor Kasapyan, Magardich Kasapyan, Onnik Karanfilyan, Yuliyan Yordanov, Hristo Kerin, Anna Tikhonova, Hristo Naydenov, Veselin Damyanov – Ves, Petar Chinovski, and Tanya Krasteva.

The *ex libris* originated as a mark indicating that a book belongs to a specific private or public library. The term comes from the Latin *ex libris*, meaning "from the books of." Typically, it combines the owner's name with an image reflecting their interests, profession, or personal world. Over time, this small book-mark has evolved into an independent graphic artwork and a collectible object.

"Ink Leaves a Trace" draws attention to the expressive power of the small format—a space where imagery, lettering, and detail weave together a complete narrative. The distinct styles of the participating artists reveal the richness of the *ex libris* and its deep connection to books, personal identity, and the art of printmaking. The ex libris works from the collection of Spas Halachev add another dimension to this encounter, offering a perspective on collecting as a means of preserving and sharing graphic art.

The "Abris" Graphic Gallery invites print art connoisseurs, collectors, book lovers, and curious visitors to discover just how much a small-scale work can tell.

Opening: October 23, 2026, 6:30 PM.

Location: "Abris" Graphic Gallery, 17 Otets Paisiy St., Plovdiv.

The exhibition runs until: November 15, 2026.
