Dimitar Karatonev is a contemporary Bulgarian artist and graphic artist, whose work is distinguished by exquisite color, lyrical sensitivity and a deep attachment to the beauty of everyday landscapes. Born in 1978 in Harmanli, he graduated from the Art High School in Haskovo, and subsequently majored in Graphics at the Veliko Tarnovo University "St. St. Cyril and Methodius". Since 2007, he has been a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
In his works, Karatonev combines academic precision with a poetic view of the world. Regardless of whether he works in the field of graphics or painting, his works bring a sense of silence, light and harmony. He often finds inspiration in coastal towns, old houses, boats, cobblestone streets and the timeless atmosphere of places where time seems to flow more slowly.
Over the years, the artist has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, biennials and triennials of graphics in Europe, Asia and South America, and his solo exhibitions have been presented in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Kiev and other cultural centers. He is the recipient of numerous awards, and his works are part of prestigious private and public collections in Bulgaria and abroad.
Today, Dimitar Karatonev is among the most recognizable representatives of contemporary Bulgarian painting and graphics. His works attract collectors with their elegance, masterful technique and ability to preserve the beauty of the moment as a lasting artistic experience.
