Krikor Kasapyan belongs to those authors for whom graphics are not just an artistic discipline, but a means of philosophical study of man and the world. Born in 1963 in Plovdiv, he grew up in an environment where art was naturally present and determined the direction of his creative path early on. After studying at the Tsanko Lavrenov Art High School and the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, majoring in Graphics, Kasapyan has built a consistent and recognizable presence in contemporary Bulgarian graphic art.
His works move along the border between the real and the imaginary. Through virtuoso drawing and his characteristic precision of line, the author creates images that both impress with technical mastery and provoke reflection. Regardless of whether he works in graphics or drawing, at the center of his work is the desire to reveal the hidden connections between man, memory and spiritual experience.
Over the years, Krikor Kasapyan has participated in dozens of national and international exhibitions in Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the USA. Among his most significant awards are the awards from the International Triennial of Graphics in Kochi, Japan, the British International Exhibition of Small Graphics in Bristol and the Medal of Honor from the International Biennial of Modern Ex-libris in Malbork, Poland.
In parallel with his active creative activity, Kasapyan devotes a significant part of his professional life to teaching. Today he is an associate professor and head of the Fine Arts Department at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design "Prof. Assen Diamandiev" - Plovdiv, where he continues to work with young artists and develop his research in the field of graphics and drawing.
Even today, the author remains an active presence on the art scene through solo and group exhibitions, creative projects and participation in graphic art forums. His works carry the characteristic ability of great graphic artists to combine impeccable technique with an idea that continues to live long after the first glance.
