Nikolay Nyagolov is an artist who transforms color into an experience. Born in 1963 in Lovech, he graduated from the Art School of Applied Arts in Troyan and majored in Graphics at the University of Veliko Tarnovo. Although his academic training was related to graphics, it was painting that became the territory in which his creative temperament found its fullest expression.

In Nyagolov's works, reality is more of a starting point than a final goal. Seashores, harbors, still lifes and urban spaces are transformed into emotional states, built through saturated color, free pictorial texture and a sense of movement. His paintings do not describe the world - they recreate the atmosphere of the encounter with it. It is this ability to combine expressiveness and harmony that makes his works easily recognizable and loved by collectors in Bulgaria and abroad.

Over the past three decades, the author has held over thirty solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Great Britain and the United States, and his works have been presented in numerous international projects and exhibitions of contemporary Bulgarian art.

In parallel with his creative activity, Nikolay Nyagolov devotes a significant part of his life to teaching and working with young artists. Since the late 1980s, he has been associated with the National Art School "Tsanko Lavrenov" in Plovdiv, where he has left a lasting mark as a teacher and inspirer of new generations of artists.

Today, Nikolay Nyagolov continues to actively create and present new exhibitions. His latest cycles, including "Sea Conversations", "Still Life" and the anniversary exhibition "On the Road", reveal an artist who never stops searching for new pictorial solutions, remaining faithful to his most recognizable theme - the dialogue between man, light and color. In his art, the sea is often just an occasion. The true plot is always freedom.
